Video Release – UN Binding Treaty (6/8): “An International Court for Transnationals”

Global Campaign

Demand #5: An International Court for Transnationals – Pablo Fajardo from the Union of Affected by Chevron-Texaco (UDAPT) in Ecuador

Impunity prevails with Transnational corporations (TNCs) that systematically violate human rights.

We need an international treaty to ensure that communities affected by TNC crimes have access to justice.

In the Global Campaign to Reclaim Peoples Sovereignty, Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity we have always stressed the importance of focusing on holding transnational corporations accountable for human rights violations.

Pablo Fajardo from the Union of Affected by Chevron-Texaco (UDAPT) in Ecuador explains why an International Court strong and capable to judge TNCs has to be included in the currently discussed UN Binding Treaty on Transnational Corporations and Human Rights.

Social organisations and movements, communities affected by the operations of TNCs and others fighting for social and environmental justice around the world, will march to Geneva in October 2019 (12th to 19th)

This will be the fifth time we mobilise for the establishment of a United Nations (UN) treaty that imposes on states and corporations international obligations to guarantee that affected communities, groups and individuals whose human rights have been violated by transnational corporations have access to justice, reparation and remedy.
