The adoption of the new Statute responds to the need to update the terms of reference and the area of the competence of the PPT, in consideration of the evolution of the institutions of international law and the experience of the Tribunal. The new Statute reflects the challenges and the suggestions emerged during its Sessions held over 40 years long activities.
Following intensive collegial work of its members and of the Presidential office, the new PPT Statute is hereby updated with respect to the procedures and definitions of the crimes included its competence, thus setting the following expanded the doctrinal and operational framework for its future activities.
