The Polaris Institute and the Global Campaign to Dismantle Corporate Power organized a successful workshop during the Peoples’ Social Forum in Ottawa. The panel included Tony Clarke from the Polaris Institute who provided an important historical overview of corporate power and Stuart Trew, a longtime trade campaigner, who discussed current and proposed trade and investment agreements. Two case studies of corporate impunity were presented, one by Judith Marshall of the Network of People Affected by Vale and another by Lucy Sharratt from the Canadian Biotechnology Action Network. Richard Girard gave an overview of the Global Campaign and facilitated a lively discussion by the more than 60 participants in the workshop.
