8th Session of negociations of the BT on Human Rights and TNCs/UN

Global Campaign – 8th Session of the Open-Ended Intergovernmental Working Group on Business and Human Rights in the United Nations

For the last 10 years the Global Campaign to Reclaim Peoples Sovereignty, Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity (Global Campaign) has working to build a binding treaty on human rights and business and human rights prioritizing the participation of affected communities and the primacy of human rights over other agreements and proposing key elements.

In 2022, the 8th session of negotiations on the 3rd draft of the treaty will take place in the UN headquarters in Geneva. To participate at this moment, the Global Campaign will be represented by a delegation of people from different regions of the globe bringing their experiences and knowledge regarding violations of human rights by the operation of transnational companies and those of transnational character.

This group of members of the GC will make statements during the negotiations bringing important elements regarding the content of the text and the necessity of civil society participation in the process during the official negotiations.

To prepare for this moment, and also to advance on the negotiations, the Global Campaign has elaborated documents and proposals to be presented to the States and civil society.
